NOTE: After trying some other options I have upgraded this review. The product is fine, it is my car/phone combo that does not work.

The idea is great. One cord I can keep plugged into my USB car charge port and my AUX in and just snap into my iPhone when I jump in the car. No messing with a cord on top and bottom and no messing with the iPhone volume to set it properly for the AUX in.

It DOES charge for me.

HOWEVER, on my 2007 Nissan Quest with my iPhone 4 plugged into the AUX IN, the sound is over driven. It sounds just like I plugged into the headphone jack and cranked the volume all of the way up. Very distorted.
BUT, it works fine and sounds wonderful with my friend’s iPhone 3GS.
AND, it works fine and sounds wonderful if I use an adapter to connect my iPhone 4 into my 2007 Nissan Quest’s DVD player left/right RCA in jacks.

I did some digging, and apparently the output voltage on “AUX” for the iPhone 4 is a little higher than for the iPhone 3. Apparently my car can’t handle that. I am now faulting the AUX in jack on my car, not this cable.
So much for “line in” being a standard of any sort.

I bought another similar name brand device to give me aux out of the iPhone and the results are EXACTLY the same. So there is no need to pay more. This cable is great if your combination of iPhone version and vehicle aux in work out.

This USB/jack makes a great accessory for your car with a built in USB/ USB Power adapter ( I recommend the bullet types, smaller and looks like its built in) Or for your home theater system.
The sound is much crisper, cleaner, and base hits well. I use mine in my BMW and on my BOSE. The other great part s that it illuminates having two wires from you’re the iPhone / iPad / iPod. I have been through over 30 adapters, most from the Apple Store target, walmart, but none are even in the same ball field as this charger/adapter. I have actually gone back and purchased 20 of these since all my friends and family are fascinated by it and it beats paying 30-50 for other adapters. If only they sold these in local stores. So pros and cons.

Pros:
-Illuminates two wires bring two items as one (obvious reason)
-You can listen to audio using just 3.5mm jack only and not have to connect the USB for power
-Use it to charge your phone or to sync on your computer
-Audio is 10 times better- Studio Quality in HD- if your music is original or bought on Itunes or other sources that I can not mention.. but those are great too.
-Manufactured well and is promising that it wont break or fall apart.
-Length of wire is good for cars and home theater systems where the connections are in the back.
-Gold plated Jack for great audio connectivity
-Great when connecting to a dock
-Heavy-duty wires, not your typical wire found in the apple wire given. (yes I got two and took one apart, that’s why I get to write reviews)

Cons
-While on a home charger, you cannot listen to music without having to plug the 3.5 mill into an audio source. An iphone will read it as a dock connection (fix: I got an Apple Airport, and stream music from Pandora or itunes using wifi.) This is not a big deal, if you really want to play songs on your iphone speaker’s just use the original cable given to you with the product.

I can’t confirm this, but some reviews say they have heard a humming sound. So of course I take my adapter and go to all my friends and family to test out in there cars. Out of the 30 odd cars I have tried it on, the only one I heard the sound is in the KIA-Rio. But I really think it’s the wires inside the car as other adapters from the owner did the same thing.
Cars I have tested in and performed as advertised. BMW 3,5,7 series, Mercedes (slk, SL, SLS, G, GLK CLS, Toyota (Corola, Camery), Nissan (Z, Sentra, Altima, Frontier) Lamborghini Murcielago (who would have thought), Dodge charger, Corvette and lots more. Hope you get the point that this works! No joke!

This Black USB 3.5mm JACK Car AUX Audio/Charger/sync Connector for iPod, iPhone, which is currently $6.53 and sounds perfectly, but it is 4 feet long and it is a double cable – too many wires running around you. The perfect cable must be no longer, than 2 feet. InCarCables Car Stereo 1.6 ft (50 cm) has almost perfect length, but it sounds badly as ANY OTHER 3.5 male-male cable – due to interface

There are plenty conversation on a one subject: charging and listening at the same time. This depends on the car. First I used iPod in a rented Mazda. I was able to charge and listen at the same time. Mazda had 2nd cigarette power outlet, which is hidden under driver’s arm rest (central one). IT IS DESIGNED FOR ELECTRONIC AND PROTECTED FROM ALTERNATOR NOISE. This outlet is powered even if car is not running and the key is out. My Scion has no such outlet and I can charge OR listen. Listening during charging is possible, but road noise is more pleasurable. Pick your poison.

The item and the design are very cool. Also the support is amazing, they always help you with any detail that you have.

It’s far better than those similar products, while the price is still acceptable.
