The XBOX wireless adapter for Windows is the logical solution for those who want to use more comfortably the excellent XBOX One and/or XBOX One Elite controller for gaming.
In my humble opinion, it deserves a five-star rating because ELIMINATES the annoyance of having a wired controller, at least when you are not charging the batteries.
It’s simple, discrete, even elegant, and lightweight, in comparison with the wireless adapter of the XBOX 360 controller, which was bulkier and with an odd round shape, harder to accommodate somewhere in your computer case or surroundings. Besides, the extension cable is detachable, what is very convenient when you have almost or no room for this port in the front or back of the motherboard of your computer, in contrast with the 360 controller wireless adapter, in which the extension cable was included and permanently attached, and if the cord was not necessary, you must fold the excedent cable, in order to avoid the mess in front or back of your computer.
The only complaint about this adapter is that takes more time to pair a device, and you must press the pairing buttons sequentially, in order to have a one-step device pairing. First the adapter, then the controller.
I have another complaint, but I think is related more to Windows, rather than the device itself. Is the inability to recognize the paired controller in the XBOX Devices subprogram in Windows. You have to try several times for the proper recognition. Nevertheless, even if the subprogram cannot recognize the controller, you can use the controller as well.
I recommend this device to anyone who wants to use the XBX One controller without more cables on the computer. It works well and serves the purpose… you won’t regret it.

I was frustrated for months with disconnects from bluetooth while gaming with an Xbox One Controller on the PC. I searched all over for solutions and disregarded comments suggesting to buy this dongle at first believing there had to be a software or some other solution that I could administer for free. I sit literally a foot and a half from my wifi/bluetooth antenna and have a very modern computer with a core I-9 9900k, 32 gb of ram, an RTX 2080ti, and an Aorus Master Z390 motherboard which is an excellent board with strong wireless connections. I updated all different drivers, but nothing I tried would fix this problem of bluetooth controller disconnects, and you will find researching the problem that this is COMMON and not due in any way to user error or something you did wrong on the software side. Something is just wrong with the Xbox controller bluetooth connection on many different types of windows PC’s. You can be in the middle of a game and the controller would either go completely unresponsive, or rumble uncontrollably while your game would dip to a few frames a second as you lose complete control of the game without a full power down and restart of the controller. Disabling vibration would help slightly, making it occur less often, but it still occurs and is unbearable when playing a game where you need to maintain control at all times. I got sick of having to throw out batteries after a few hours of use as only a brand new pair of batteries would result in the least disconnects. Note that I also have a dual shock 4 that I use via bluetooth in certain situations, and have never had an issue with the Sony controller disconnecting from my PC in the same way that the Xbox one does.

After weeks of using this dongle all issues have evaporated. Not a single disconnect, and I can run my batteries down to complete death before the controller becomes unusable. As much as I hate the fact that I had to buy this to get the functionality that should work via bluetooth and windows 10, I am 100% satisfied that I did.

You will also get the ability to use a headset with the controller using this dongle as well, which is a nice bonus.

It’s official Xbox so it’s the best you can get for it’s needs. It works really Easily to connect your Xbox controllers to your PC without the need for Bluetooth, your getting the dongle so your connection is going to be much better and won’t interfere with your other Bluetooth stuff. Works with Emulation and Epic,Steam,ECT can connect up to 8 controllers so if you have a pal or spouse to play with it works great.

I have a pretty beefy gaming PC, but the bluetooth on the mobo has always been very spotty with Xbox controllers, so I bought a Bluetooth adapter, which increased the general stability of mouse and keyboard, but didn’t really help with the controllers.

I saw this and figured I’d give it a shot. It works great. I was immediately able to use Xbox controllers painlessly with my PC. The construction is pretty shoddy, so the housing broke away from the electronics the first time I attempted to remove it from the USB port. I slip it back on so I can use the button on top, but considering this thing would be overpriced if it stayed in one piece, that’s a big indictment of its cost.

Ultimately, I shouldn’t need this, but my time is valuable to me, so beating my head against the wall for hours to figure out what was going wrong was a worse investment than spending $30 on this.

Quality product from Microsoft. Works as intended. Nothing bad to say. A great addition for a console/pc gamer wanting to use their peripherals on multiple platforms.

Pairing via Bluetooth was always a hassle for me on my PC. My older controllers had a hard time with connection and vibration. Finally got sick of it and bought this. Soooo much better. Should have done this from the beginning

  8. Steve Byrd

    Works great, and as intended.

  9. Hector Montoya

Great product, fast delivery. Works great, no need in drivers etc.

  10. Skylar Schafer

Just plugged it into my pc and it was recognized, I didnt have to download or update any drivers. Works well using 2 controllers simultaneously. I do not notice any input lag.

  11. Mathias Mendonca

It takes a minute for windows update to install drivers.

I’ve been excited for this product to arrive ever since the Xbox One controller was released. The Xbox One controller feels much better than the 360 ergonomically, and I wanted to make the switch over when playing games such as Rocket League. In the meantime, I’ve sufficed by plugging in via USB cable, but if I stream from my TV, it’s much more difficult.
The USB dongle is big, I’m not gonna lie. The nice thing is that it is slim, so you won’t have issues plugging in other USB devices next to it if they’re in vertical parallel but it’s definitely long, and a little wide. Looks like an older USB wifi dongle. I had to remove my Logitech dongle to fit it into my laptop, where they are all horizontal in series. Note, there is a USB extender cable included in the box that you can use to prevent this issue. I would actually recommend using it, to prevent any potential interference from being plugged in close proximity to other devices. On my desktop, I was connected via USB 2.0, on my laptop I was connected via USB 3.0. I noticed no difference in performance, the dongle worked on both ports.
After plugging the unit into my computer, the drivers installed automatically. I restarted for good measure, then pressed the sync buttons on my controller and the dongle simultaneously. White light flashes while searching, then goes solid after paired. Same went with my controller. You can do this to connect multiple devices. It does NOT disconnect currently connected devices, they remain paired.
I tested using Rocket League (pretty much the only game I’m going to be using right now), the device worked flawlessly without any issues for me. Moving to my laptop connected to my tv downstairs, I comfortably played again at a distance of ~15 feet from the dongle with no issues, either. Again, the laptop is running Windows 10.
The controller will automatically sleep after inactivity, just like a 360 controller. Merely press it and it’ll wake up and automatically connect to the dongle again, no problem. My computer makes a connection sound when it detects it’s woken up. Pressing on the home key with Steam running launches Big Picture mode.
I have literally only owned this product for less than an hour, but so far everything is working swimmingly.
    • I am using Windows 10, as it is a stated requirement for the dongle to work. So if you are using 7 or 8, be prepared for incompatibilities. I tested on my friend’s desktop running Windows 7, and the drivers would not install.
    • I used an Xbox One controller (Titanfall edition) – I did try my 360 controller but it did not work, as was expected.
    • Everything worked out of the box for me. After the driver installed, I did restart my computer before trying to use the controller.
    • Controller works fine at least 15 feet away from the dongle. I did not try further yet.
    • The dongle was not loose in the USB port, as another user commented. It does ‘shift’ slightly, but there’s no worry of it falling out or losing connection randomly.
I will later test to see if this is compatible with my Steamlink, and update accordingly.

I see lots of people disgruntled that it’s only compatible with Windows 10, and that it’s a surprise. Read the product description. It says it’s only for Xbox One controllers and Windows 10. Seriously people, read!
