These are THE kitchen shears. I used to hate cutting the fins of salmon and cutting chicken. I had several different shears and scissors for specific purposes (cut chicken with shears, cut flower stems with scissors, cut food packages with yet another set of scissors … why??? Why didn’t I buy these shears years ago? With the Shun shears i can cut the fins of the salmon with zero resistance. Chicken bones … they cut through the rib bones like as if there aren’t any! They are sharp enough for clean cuts on flower stems. Cleaning them couldn’t be easier: Turn the handle to dislodge at the handle, wash, align screw at handle and ready for the next task. I’ve never had shears that come even close to the quality of these Shun shears (and I had many!). Easy to clean, sharp, strong and multi-functional … awesome!!!

I have usually purchased less expensive kitchen shears which lasted for a year or two and were mediocre at best but they cut things like lettuce and chicken skin – sometimes but were not good at much else. When I explored the choices at Amazon for kitchen shears I read reviews and came across these and the price nearly floored me. Nearly $80 for scissors? Then I thought about how much I have spent over the years replacing ineffective, poorly made products and decided to give these a try knowing that I could return them without hassle if I wasn’t satisfied with them. Well, they cut everything like butter with smooth action, are easy to clean (I never put my shears in the dishwasher and always hand wash them) and having used them for many months, they are showing no sign of wear. This is truly a quality product that will probably last for years.
By the way – some of the information posted on Amazon about these shears is incorrect, they do not have “Ebony black Pakka Wood Handles”, many of their premium knives do but not these shears.
When you think about it, having wooden handles on kitchen shears used to cut poultry and other food items would not be that sanitary. These shears have stainless steel handles covered with an elastomeric material to make them easier to grip.
