Broadway Basketeers Sympathy Gift Basket – A Shiva Condolence Gift

I bought this Sympathy Box Medium as it was 1/3rd the regular price on Amazon Warehouse/Resale to try it out. As the description online is missing about what you get, I decided to review it as a public service. It came in a sturdy, small, pretty drawer type box with a brown sympathy ribbon and generic sympathy card wrapped in plastic so you could tell it was new. The box could be reused if desired.

Per the picture, I was supposed to get cookies, caramels and Lindt truffles in an overfilled box. However, mine came with significantly less and different Lindor chocolates than pictured at only 18 truffles (6 milk chocolate, 6 white chocolate, 6 caramel), 7 Estrom almond toffee petites (4 milk and 3 dark chocolate), and a 5.1 ounce plastic bag of mixed nuts (I weighed it) misspelled as “Creme Burle.”

The milk chocolate Estrom toffees were absolutely delicious. I am glad I was able to try them out. These are expensive on their web site and on Amazon. But on googling it, Costco has sold them in the store at some point for much less.

The mixed nuts were fresh and per the bag consisted of: Toffee peanuts, peanuts, Toffee cashews, butterscotch chips and white chips. However, there weren’t any cashews, and instead lots of almonds (unlabeled per bag ingredients). There were also yogurt covered possible raisins (also unlisted). The mixed nuts contained multiple food dyes, seed oils, and bioengineered food ingredients per the bag labeling. There was no nutritional calorie information. I couldn’t find the expiration date.

All told, the candy and nuts without the box weighed a little over 1 lb. Value wise, the candy and nuts could be bought much cheaper separately on sale even at the discounted price I paid. I rearranged the candy in the box to be more visible in the attached picture in a single layer (not stuffed as in the picture), but the presentation is nice. If you don’t mind paying over 3 times the cost of the items to send a gift via Amazon, this could be an expensive, but nice “it is the thought that counts” sympathy present.

There was a good variety of snacks. Everything was delicious and fresh. I was skeptical when ordering because of some of the other reviews . Basket also had a gorgeous presentation.

Gifted this to a friend who was in Bereavement and she and her family said they enjoyed it! She said the items tasted “Homemade”. Delivery was quick and the shipment was in secure packaging. I really like that there is an nice variety, and every item is Individually Wrapped, so that everything stays sanitary (you don’t have to rummage through the selections touching everything with your fingers), and freshness is preserved.
Really would have been nice to have an empty card included for a handwritten note, but that wasn’t part of the advertised listing, just my personal preference, so not a dealbreaker.
I highly recommend this as a gift idea for the occasion of one’s choice!
