Of course fruit can be rotten but this should still be chosen more carefully.

I was embarrassed to learn that the gift I sent to my mother was full of rotten and bruised fruit. I found the quality and size of the fruit to be very poor. There was supposed to be a seasonal fruit but that was not in the basket.
