My five year old chihuahua mix was intimidated at first with the moving parts she was fine after great food placed in the holders. Well made product, thank you Nina O.

It’s easier to clean, it can be engaging for a different dog, especially one that is very food driven but my dog just was not interested. Returned it.

My dog loves his treat puzzle. It is good quality and priced fairly. I used it for his breakfast and a few treats throughout the day. I removed the white pieces in the middle as I felt it was too much in such a small space. It works well now.

We love this puzzle! My Great Pry mix was really stumped by a larger, similar puzzle with much larger bones! I got him at 18 months as a runaway stray that was somehow very well trained and socialized. He’s a VERY gentle, sensitive dog and hardly used his teeth for anything other than eating. He didn’t know how to play catch, tug, do puzzles – nothing. That was about the 4th or 5th puzzle feeder and he could not think to bite the bones to pick them up. Neither would he paw at them. Only nudge with his nose. If I didn’t place them loosely, his food would never get eaten. I finally bought him this brick puzzle to thy to get him to bite the smaller bone and he did! Then a few days later I bought the bigger one back out and after a few tries my plan worked! So now he has two great interactive puzzles.
This puzzle is on the smaller side for my dog, classified as large, bordering on XL at 65+ pounds. Can’t get a meal in there for him, so I use it for treats. There are four hiding spots, which I love. The flaps do snap off, so if your dog is an aggressive eater, it may not be for them. BUT they do snap right back on very easily. All in all, they packed a lot of thinking into this puzzle at a great price. Definitely would recommend.

    Ball treat dispenser:
I specifically bought this ball because it’s diameter is larger than the height from floor to furniture in my apartment – the other ball would get under furniture and I spent a lot of time looking for the ball. I use the ball for feeding my dog his kibble. The problem with this ball is that you cannot twist and open it. So I have to carefully pour in the kibble from the measuring cup. I considered using a funnel but I don’t want the clutter. So you won’t be able to clean this as easily as one you could open. On the bright side, there are less pieces to deal with. Also, I think my dog doesn’t find it as entertaining. There isn’t much challenge – he just nudges it with his nose and the thing spews food. This also means that he isn’t preoccupied for as long. So 3 paws from my dog and 3 stars from me.

    Worker puzzle:
I got it from Amazon for $15. The package was badly damaged and the center piece had a small piece that attaches to the larger and darker piece was broken off. This is what allows the center piece to spin around. I was able to fix it with sugru. I let him at it and I think he figured it out in the time it took for me to put away the dishes. This puzzle was easy for him compared to the Casino and Twister puzzle which are all Advanced/Level 3 puzzles. I think it is also easier for him because it doesn’t have little handles he needs to pull out. So I think we’re on to level 4.

    The Twister Review:
4-5 month update: my dog finally figured out the Twister. It was frustrating for me and my dog. I had him try out the Casino. It had a shorter learning curve and can finish it in around 5-10 minutes. Then, after a week of doing Casino, I gave him the Twister puzzle and he got that done in under 10 minutes. I think he really needed the Casino puzzle to pick up skills so he could apply it to the Twister. What I did previously was akin to giving a child The Little Train That Could followed by a college level General Chemistry text book and expecting a thesis at the end of it. So I’m completely satisfied now with the puzzle and bumped up my rating to 5/5. So tied string and looped it around a triangular piece of cardboard like a pedal, and gave him the command paw. He was able to pull the key and open the lock with my makeshift pedal in a few minutes. I think the challenge of the puzzle is more physical – the handles are small for human fingers and it isn’t something ergonomic or practical for paws. Maybe if you had a pet monkey it would work great. Design-wise I think humans were given preference over dogs. My dog eventually has figured it out and he is able to open it.

The Brick Review: This is the first puzzle my dog was exposed to so it took him longer to figure it out. It took maybe 30 minutes for my 12-year-old Jack Russell to figure out the puzzle. No hints for him! The second time, he got it done in 10 minutes. I initially had some apprehension before purchasing, because I wasn’t sure he would be able to figure it out. I had a homemade puzzle made for him that he gave up on.
I shared the puzzle with another dog (a samoyed) and it took her a few days. I never had to remove the puzzle from my senior Jack Russel who would just leave the puzzle after he was done, but the 2-year-old samoyed destroyed parts of the brick puzzle.

Casino Review: This puzzle took longer to learn. By 3 months he was able to consistently solve the puzzle. I know he’s learned something because it takes him less time to solve the puzzle. He didn’t do puzzles for a month and he was doing the twister puzzle for a while and his time to solve the puzzle increased. So just like humans, dogs have to relearn something they haven’t seen in a while.

My dogs are familiar with puzzle toys, and we have 3 other puzzle toys ranging from beginner-advanced. My dogs are both super chewers, so I enjoy these sturdier toys as opposed to the felt mats since they’ll rip the felt mats to shreds in a matter of minutes. I got the tornado toy which is marked as Level 2 – Intermediate, but I’d actually say that this toy is pretty advanced to start. The actual spinning of the toy is pretty easy, but it took forever for my dog to figure out how to get the bones out! Even know my dog doesn’t know how to paw the bone off, he just flips the mat upside down and flips it back so the bones get knocked off xD I only started off with 1 bone while my dog got the hang of it, but the toy does get more advanced if you use all the bones (I’d recommend 1 bone per level.) I’ve had it for a few weeks and the actual tornado toy is still in great shape, but my dog does chew on the bones (probably for revenge) so they are a bit misshapen at this point.

Kept the neurons in my puppy’s brain sparking. Anything that slows his eating down is great in my books.

  9. Amazon Customer

my chihuahua loves this and it doesn’t slide around. it might for a larger dog with more power, but overall super great and love that you can increase the difficulty with the white bones.

  10. Jack’s Mama

Leo the puppy destroyed part of his first puzzle because he was using his brawn versus his brain . It still held up well and we were using it until he turned 20 mo and I bought him a new one. It keeps him busy and is easy to wash / clean. Very happy with this puzzle. Highly recommend. Very good value for the price.

Very high quality. The plastic is nice and thick. Keeps my dog entertained for a while, but he kind of figured it out eventually through pawing at it constantly. Thought the only way to get the treat was to pull on the white handles to unlock the teal lids and be able to slide them. I guess my pup is smarter than I am because he figured out that the lid pops off too. I didn’t even realize that the lid pops off.

  12. Kindle Customer

My doodle gets excited when I pull this out. It’s a fun toy that challenges her brain. Easy to clean if you can get off the pieces. I slightly trimmed the bottom of the top piece in order to make it easier to remove. I love that I can throw these in the dishwasher. Would recommend!
