QUICK LOOK: My love for green tea started many decades ago on a trip overseas to Hong Kong /China and Japan. I’ve had some VERY good tea in the decades since in many places throughout the world. Sometimes in surprising places. I find myself more often than not disappointed with green teas I find on the market because they just don’t capture that same “experience” at home. Something is always off…the flavor profile, bitterness, freshness, mouth feel (yes this is a thing with tea), etc. I’m VERY happy to report that this Green Tea of the Longjing variant is hands down the best I’ve ever been able to brew on my own at home.
It’s about as authentic of an experience as I’ve had.
I honestly knew I was in for a treat the moment I opened the (very nice) packaging and saw the leaves themselves. Amazing quality and freshness right off the bat. There’s CARE taken in the packaging of this tea.
Once brewed I was met with the mellow (but substantial) flavor profile of Longjing that did not have an over “tannined” flavor. The tea is very smooth and flavorful – and for me kicked off memories of tea houses and small restaurants visited overseas.
Yes – it’s a bit pricey per oz – but you truly get the value of quality with that price. If you’re looking to share a cup of amazing green tea with friends and family – this is the ONE you want.
THE GOOD STUFF:
– HIGH quality tea – you can see it immediately in the leaves upon opening and smell it in the aroma as well
– Nice packaging that is high quality
– Steeps very nicely and evenly
– Not bitter – very smooth flavor without a heavy tannin profile
THE NOT SO GOOD STUFF:
– It’s pricey – but honestly it’s worth every dollar. if you’re looking for a fantastic tea experience.

This tea is very authentic to what you could get in a teahouse in China. I am probably doing this tea no justice at all by how I’m preparing it. One thing I will say is don’t pour boiling water over the tea leaves. You want it hot, but not boiling. The flavor is earthy and the aroma smells very authentic to what I used to smell in China. Overall, I’m pleased with this tea. It will be my occasional treat for anytime I want a trip down memory lane.

Lived in Beijing for several years, and traveled to Hangzhou where you find really good Long Jin. This Long Jin one is the closest quality to those I would find in good tea houses and reputable shops in Beining and Hangzhou. Sweet taste with a relatively strong aroma. Leaves take a longer time than usual to drop in the glass, but this could very well be related to the hardness of our water. I still have to try the tea with various waters. I am writing this review now because I think it’s worth mentioning the difference in quality with other brands of Long Jin I bought on Amazon which were all disappointing.

In a green Yixing clay teapot, 30 second wash, 5 minutes steep, excellent! Smooth, not as astringent as other Lungjing Dragonwell I’ve had. Will definitely buy again, especially if price is lowered. I paid about 2X what other green teas cost.

I bought some other brand before, but they are just so so.
I hope it’s a little cheaper that will be prefect.
