These dried longans are a nice surprise. They are pitted and easy eat. They have a naturally sweet, pleasant flavor with a chewy texture. I have tried them both straight out of the package and reconstituted in water, and they are tasty. They also make a good, herbal fruit tea with jujubes and goji berries. They are a popular ingredient in Chinese porridge desserts as well.

These come in a pack of 2 clear plastic bottles with a metal lid. Mine has a manufacturer date of 12/2022, just 4 months ago. The ingredients are 100% longan. No additives. Good quality and fresh. Product of China. Overall, I like these dried longans a lot. They are sweet, tasty and chewy. They are great as a healthy snack, tea infusion, and in Chinese dessert recipes. Good product, albeit a little pricey competitively though.

Upon opening the jar, the smell was difficult to describe — smoky, a bit sweet, a bit savory, with an almost a ferment-y wine-ish quality underneath. I ate one dry, and found the taste rather overwhelming — felt like biting into savory, smoky sugar. The texture reminded me of certain kinds of sugar frostings when they go dry on the outside. A quick few swallows of white tea helped balance out the sugar-overload, ha. There were tiny bits of seed/pit, so “no nuclear” is relative.

Eating dry is not going to work out for me, so I tried brewing these according to the directions — 3-5 minutes did not cut it, however, so I let it sit for 20-30, which fully hydrated the longan. The resulting liquid has that more full, fruity taste with some floral elements, and the hydrated longan is more pleasant to me. I still liked pairing it with plain white tea to cut the sweetness (and enhance the tea with those smoky/floral qualities), but I have a relatively low tolerance for super sweet things, so that’ll be an individual preference.

In general, I find these to have a very interesting flavor. The smokiness makes me think of lapsang souchong tea (which I love), but I think the fruit might be a bit of an acquired taste. They list “sugar” as one of the “nutrients” for a reason! I’m still getting used to it, so we’ll see if I make it through these bottles or have to hand it off to someone more sweet-tolerant. These are on the expensive side, but I can’t imagine wanting to have more than a few at once, so they’ll probably last a while as a now-and-then treat. The only real “con” is that I wish they were organic!

This my first encounter with Longan fruit – it’s somewhere between a date & a raisin in texture and I have a hard time coming up with a comparable fruit flavor-wise. It’s smoky and sweet (less sweet than a raisin), a few in my home tried this & that’s the best description we could come up with. I would wager that this is an authentic Chinese treat.

They arrived in decent enough pakaging and mostly follow the product description. The product page has multiple grammar issues and lots of ambiguous descriptions that can really use some better translation work if this prodcut is coming from China.

The 100% natural claim is hard to prove and actual source is unclear. The dried fruit does appear fine and we like the flavours.

It’s hard to get Longan berries locally that aren’t gone bad (or slightly fermented) so dried is a nice option. you can eat them dried, they have almost a crystalized date texture or I boiled water and let them steep in that to rehydrate which gives you still a firm but a softer chew (soft raisin texture) and a sweet ‘tea’ to drink once all the berries have been removed/eaten

Ordering Tremella to add to the tea for increased health benefits. Will be making this daily, with a cinnamon stick. It’s so yummy!

Upon opening the container, I was greeted with a sweet and earthy aroma, instantly enticing my taste buds. The dried longan fruit had a texture similar to that of dried apricots, offering a chewy and satisfying experience. The flavor was truly unique, falling somewhere between a date and a raisin. It had a subtly smoky and sweet taste, with its own distinct character.

I enjoyed eating the dried longan as is, appreciating its natural sweetness and chewy texture. But I also discovered another way to enjoy them by soaking them in water, creating a delicious tea condiment or a delightful addition to my meals. In fact, I even incorporated them into a herbal fruit tea with jujubes and goji berries, which turned out to be a delightful combination.

I recently tried Hee Creek Dried Longan and I was blown away by how delicious and healthy they are! The packaging is sleek and sturdy, and the product itself is top-notch. The longan fruit meat is 100% natural, with no additives, making it a great healthy snack option.

The longan fruit is well-dried, with just the right amount of moisture, and has a pleasantly chewy texture. The flavor is mildly sweet with a hint of floral notes, making it a great addition to salads, desserts, and even savory dishes. I was also happy to learn that this product is produced in China, with locally sourced ingredients, ensuring that it is of the highest quality.

Overall, I highly recommend Hee Creek Dried Longan for anyone looking for a healthy and delicious snack. Whether you’re looking for something to munch on during the day, or want to incorporate it into your cooking, this product is definitely worth trying!

The dried longan comes in two cylindrical clear containers with resealable screw tops. The label includes detailed description of the item, shelf life and storage conditions.

Opening the container, you can smell a bit of the earthy but sweet scent of the longan pieces. The Logan pieces are stuck together, require to pull each individual piece from each other. The pieces are dry with a bit of stickiness to them.

I started brewing the suggested tea from the label. Adding the water to the pieces, you start to see a yellow golden hue in the water as the longan pieces begin to hydrate.

The tea itself was light in flavor, pleasant to the taste. You get those earthy notes, reminiscent of herbal medicine, you smell from the dried longan pieces with a hint of sweetness at the back end of the flavor. The rehydrated longan pieces were delicious, retaining the bouncy chew you expect from fresh pieces. They were sweet and tasty and great to enjoy while drinking the tea.
