Mashed and mixed with warm water, but tasted sour. Disappointed!

I originally thought it was a soup mix, oops. Meant for use in medicinal preparations. That being said, i dont care what it tastes like. Can be cooked, or ground into a powder.

I have since been reading about it, and I am now pleased to have it as part of my home apothecary. I use western medicine as needed, and use various supplements for health support and to bridge the gaps in nutrition. But I reserve some more obscure ingredients for use in more trying times (thinker prepper level). That is where learning about alternatives and Eastern medicine is very interesting, especially as there are many scientific articles that provide enough information to me to make decisions.

PubMed has an abstract regarding Bulbus fritillariae cirrhosae, as there are other scientific white papers that recognize the use of Bulbus fritillariae cirrhosae.

As with anything, be very mindful under which circumstances this can be used and not used, as well as other contraindications. Takes a thoughtful approach if making use of less familiar ingredients. Chinese medicine intrigues me, so I will continue to study it.

“Bulbus fritillariae cirrhosae (BFC) is one of the most used Chinese medicines for lung disease, and exerts antitussive, expectorant, anti-inflammatory, anti-asthmatic, and antioxidant effects, which is an ideal therapeutic drug for respiratory diseases such as ARDS, COPD, asthma, lung cancer, and pulmonary tuberculosis. Through this review, it is found that the therapeutic mechanism of BFC on respiratory diseases exhibits the characteristics of multi-components, multi-targets, and multi-signaling pathways……………..”
