Sadly, this is a great concept but it just didn’t deliver.
PROS: It has two outlets which is a great convenience.
CONS: It doesn’t take 3 prong plugs. Also, It only worked “okay” up close, with just the right timing between claps, and with a good, loud, clap, but that meant it only turned on and off 1 out of maybe every 3, 4 or 5 claps. It almost NEVER clapped on and right back off again, and when I put it in the location where I needed it (behind a console desk on opposite wall from the door with the only light strip in the room) it almost never clapped on or off unless I opened the door to the desk OR walked into the room and stood in front of it – which defeated the purpose because I had to navigate into a very dark library (with obstacles) to turn it on. Also had the pleasant experience of stinging hands more times than I care to count from trying to clap so hard and clear. I WILL note that my hubby had an easier time getting it to work (large man hands vs. definitely small woman hands?) but I can’t sit around & wait for him to get home to turn the lights on and off!
Bought remote control plugs instead and am a happy camper.

The think about a clapper is that it’s funny and cheesy every day. I got a little Pavlovian thing going where my reaction to having to turn off a light, even in a random room, is to clap. My 33 year light switch reflex has been so swiftly over taken by my clap reflex. Old dogs 🤝 new tricks. On the list of how this product has positively changed my life I would list convenience at 9/10

I purchased this for my mother who has very poor dexterity due to arthritis. She is able to clap – although a bit weakly so. Nevertheless, she can now control her room light instead of waiting for us to come by and adjust her lighting for her.
Some days, as we were working or running errands, she would have to patiently wait for us to turn her lamp on or off. Now she has a little more control.
If there was anything that could be changed, I wish I could adjust the sensitivity of the clap sound. At her weakened state, her claps are soft and are not always detected by the device. We moved the clapper up to her night stand and secured it safely to the side by bringing up a heavy duty extension cord through the table, yet out of the way. This makes it physically close to her. So far so good.

Got this three years ago and recently bought another one. We us it on outside string lighting around deck and outside kitchen. We love them, big hit with grandsons, they love to clap them off and on.

Our family loves this clapper. I bought it for the 14 year old and we put it in the main living room because we all liked it so much. Very funny to hear C-3P0 when the lights go on and off.

Have to clap loudly and slowly. Turns on when I open the end table drawer. But it does work.

A little quieter than i’d hoped but my Star Wars loving brother thought it was cool and that’s all that matters

My daughter was watching The Dog Who Saved Halloween (2011) and in that movie, the dad claps and the lamp turns off. She was amazed. I told her those things actually exist. She then told me she wanted one for her birthday!
I ended up getting her one to install in her room (not for her birthday – just a surprise) and showed her how it worked.
Overall works as intended. But… the sounds needed to trigger it are very specific and yet very random.
1) Doesn’t work when you want it to.
2) Does work when you don’t expect it to (loud noises, falling objects, etc)
3) Can be very difficult to trigger when noises are happening in the room.
What I have learned though is:
– Don’t clap too fast. 2 (or 3) clear, separate claps work best.
– Works best when not hidden in a corner. I have mine tucked between a side table and bed. Sometimes won’t register your claps if you’re not in clear line of sight (sound?).
– A super easy way to trigger it is tapping the box itself. When my daughter is asleep and I need to turn off the light — instead of clapping, I simply tap the box twice and it works just the same.
My daughter does get frustrated sometimes when it doesn’t work right away. But overall was a fun investment.

We have two now. They work great. I will never be without one
