Whether or not you will enjoy these white chocolate coated caramel apples depends entirely on how much you like caramel. Or rather, how thick you like your caramel and chocolate on your apple. For me, it was too much. It was an over-sweet, super-sticky caramel, too. Which, once again, depends entirely on preference. Thankfully, the white chocolate was Not sweet, as that would have been overkill with the caramel being as sweet as it was.
The first of the two apples, I tried to eat like a bone-in chicken wing. Because that’s just who I am, as a person. I was barely hitting the apple when biting through the chocolate and caramel on that one. If you have braces or new fillings in your teeth, this may be a treat to avoid! I have not had braces for at least a decade, and my poor, dear, sweet mother wistfully murmured “I paid $5,000 for those teeth” as she watched me try to chomp on the treat.
The second apple, I decided to try eating per directions and actually slicing it, not gnawing it while holding the stick. The ratio of apple to caramel to white chocolate was significantly improved in slice format, but 1) I had a not-so-fun time trying to even slice the thing due to the protective properties of the caramel (there are no protective properties in the caramel, it was just thick), and 2) it was honestly still too much in terms of how much caramel there was. I kind of de-caramelized my apple, wanting to just appreciate the fruit for what it was.
The big, big huge positive here, though, is that the apple, itself—the juicy fruit inside the candy nonsense—was flippin fantastic. That was a DAMN good apple. Both apples were juicy and tart and Fresh! So clearly the person/people selecting the apples for the treats know their stuff when it comes to the fruit! Like we’re talking Edible Arrangements level quality. Superb.
