We had a really pretty oil rubbed bronze soap holder, but it kept trying to rust & leave stains on the side, so I threw it out when I ordered this soap dish. Since it is being used in the bathtub- not a shower- we really have no true use or test of the spout/drain feature, but it’s a cool soap holder. It feels solid, is easy enough to clean if needed, and looks pretty nice, and is a good value at the current price of $7.99. I would not pay more than that for it though.

As you may know from some of my other reviews, we have a black gunk situation with our water. It grows on things and it’s nasty. I had a wooden soap dish in my shower for the longest time, but black gunk had begun growing on the bottom of it no matter how often I cleaned the shower. It was time for a replacement, so I was happy to see Vine offer this soap dish. It’s a good size and I love the little spout and the feet. I love those One With Nature bar soaps, and I can fit one of those in this dish either long ways or sideways, if that gives you an idea of the size of this dish. I currently have it seated on one of those diatomaceous earth plates in the shower in hopes of keeping the black gunk at bay, and I find that the little bristle feet keep it standing way better than a flat bottom would. In fact, my wooden soap dish would often go flying when hit with water, so the extra grip of these bristles is great. I haven’t used the bristles for cleaning, but they feel rather hard and stiff, so I don’t think I’d recommend using it on your body. If you’re looking for a new soap dish, I would consider this one.

This soap dish is soft and flexible. It looks really nice in my shower. Water drains out easily. The soap dish easily holds my bar of soap so it does not fall on the shower floor. It is easy to clean. It does everything. The price is very reasonable. This would make a nice gift.

This soap bar holder appears to be made entirely out of a form of rubber. The dish walls are thin and not overly tall, while the dish bottom has a few minor raised rows of rubber, presumeably for gripping soap bars. There is a rigid, stiffened structure to the rubber of the main body, whereby it has no problems keeping it’s original shape. Yet, it is also just a bit malleable, whereby the user is able to push on the sides to cave them in a bit. Not sure why such action would be needed, but it can be done.

There is a water spout on the side, of about medium width. The downward sloped angle of the spout is perfect for allowing water to gravitate and escape the dish. If water pools at all, it would be around or behind these rubbery grips, although, with reasonably tall walls, the extra grip doesn’t seem to be necessary. They do a decent job of gripping the soap, too, while still allowing most the water to drain out.

It’s also fairly easy to clean the dish out from soap residues. Since the rubber material is so smooth, and since soap is soap, just add water and wipe it out. I haven’t had this dish long enough, though, to determine if this ease of cleaning remains true when soap is allowed to sit and dry and age over time. But based on what I know and see right now, I expect it wouldn’t be too big of a deal then, either, so long as it’s something this dish is actually made to be in contact with.

The bottom side of the dish is covered in a layer of bristles, made of either softer rubber or a silicone. They aren’t super long, but appear to have 2 clear variants, thick and thin. Both types are originally stiff, but the thinner ones are also very flexible if directly pressed on. This bristle portion will do alright, I believe, to clean any simple countertop soap overflows, but it’s clearly not made for tougher cleaning jobs. Or anything too grimey, either, since it’s for soap bars.

Overall, I really like this dish. These things described above, along with the general seashell dish shape, and the light tinted lavendar-gray coloring, helps to create a gentle and pleasant appearance. 5 out of 5 stars.

There’s not much more to say other than this soap dish does exactly what it’s supposed to do! The design keeps it securely in place, and the soap doesn’t float in a pool of water, keeping it from melting too quickly.

I’ve tried a bunch of options for storing soap on my bathtub ledge while showering, and most were too big. I measured the ledge, checked the dimensions of this soap dish (which are accurate), and was happy to find it fits perfectly.

However, there are a few things I’m not thrilled about. The photos in the listing are misleading—they show two different styles of soap dishes, and there’s no way to know which one you’ll get. One style has the drain hole covered, while the other has a big, open hole.

The large open hole is a problem. It’s so large that as the soap shrinks, it could actually slide through. The top of the hole is nearly 1¾” wide, and the bottom is about 1¼”, so smaller soap pieces can easily get stuck. I think this is a design flaw.

If it weren’t for the drain hole issues (and the uncertainty about which style you’ll receive), I’d give this 5 stars. But since it leans more toward 3½ stars for me, I’ll be generous and rate it 4 stars. My search for the perfect soap dish continues.

In love this dish. It is in my upper bathroom

I use these to hold my Kitsch shampoo and conditioner bars. They help keep the bars dry by allowing any moisture to drain and dry the bars so there would not be much waste, if any at all.
